Cedric Neal

Cedric Neal is perhaps most famous for being a semi-finalist on The Voice UK (2019). Motown: The Musical marks his debut in the West End, where he was part of the original London cast and played Berry Gordy.

 

Theatre:

Neal has had more on-stage experience in the US than in the UK. In the English theatre industry, he has appeared in Chess as The Arbiter at the London Coliseum, The View Upstairs as Willie at the Soho Theatre, Motown: The Musical, I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical, and the latest production of Back To The Future: The Musical as Goldie Wilson and Marvin Berry.

His theatre credits in the US include A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Puck, The Who’s Tommy and Stagger Lee for the Dallas Theatre Centre; Dreamgirls as James “Thunder” Early for the Signature Theatre, which won him a Helen Hayes Award; The Gershwins’ Porgy And Bess as Sporting Life for the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and on Broadway; After Midnight on Broadway.

Film:

Cedric appeared as Waiter in Lost In London (2017), which was written, produced by and starred Woody Harrelson.

TV:

On television, he is best known for Chase (2010) as Guard 1, and Friday Night Lights (2009 – 2010) as Kennard Royce. He has also appeared as himself in Praise The Lord (2014), Lorraine (2019) and Reunited Apart (2020).

Awards:

He won a Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor, Resident Musical in 2013 for his character as James “Thunder” Early.
