David Bedella

Born in Gary, Indiana, David Bedella is a 1962-born American musical stage and TV performer. He is famous for his role of Satan in the premiere of Jerry Springer – The Opera in the West End’s National Theatre.

 

Awards:

He won the first professional award, the Joseph Jefferson Award for acting in 1985 for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical. He won his first Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2014, and the second in 2014 for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for In the Heights. In 2015, his own-hosted show David Bedella and Friends achieved the London Cabaret Society’s Best Long-Running Cabaret Award.

Theatre:

He reprised the role of Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Show (UK Tour, 2009/10). In 2011, he appeared in the Soho Cinders musical concert at the Queen’s Theatre. The next year, he performed at the Menier Chocolate Factory, portraying the role of Arnold in Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song Trilogy. In the 2011/12 season, he made his panto debut in Robinson Crusoe and The Caribbean Pirates as Blackheart, which played at the New Theatre, Cardiff. In 2014, he was seen alongside Bradley Walsh in Peter Pan at the Milton Keynes Theatre. Bedella joined Mel Brooks’ The Producers UK tour as Roger De Bris in 2015. In 2016, he portrayed the role of Kevin Rosario in In the Heights at King’s Cross Theatre.

Film:

His film credits include Alexander (2004) and Batman Begins (2005).

TV:

He appeared in BBC’s By Any Means as Luis in 2013. In 2014, he appeared as Frankie Parsons in an episode of Inside No.9 (BBC). Bedella is also known for his role as Carlos Fashola in BBC’s Holby City.

Other credits:

He is a voiceover artist for different characters in the multi-award-winning kids’ animation show by Mattel, Thomas & Friends.
