Lucy May Barker

Born 4th April 1992, Lucy May Baker is a well-known British screen and stage actress. Born and brought up in Lincoln, she made her debut in the West End as Isle in the original London cast of Spring Awakening.

 

Theatre:

Baker has extensive experience in theatre. Starting with the 4-time Olivier Award-winning Spring Awakening (2009) where she played the lead role to critical acclaim, she appeared in the London premiere of Zombie Prom (Landor Theatre) in the part of Ginger. Baker was seen at the Royal Theatre in 2010, playing Millie in Tamsin Oglesby’s Really Old, Like Forty Five, alongside Marcia Warren, Judy Parfitt and Gawn Grainger.

In 2010, she appeared at the Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park in The Crucible as Mercy Lewis. She returned to the Royal National Theatre in Mike Bartlett’s new show Earthquakes In London. There, she played Marina. At the beginning of 2011, Barker was in the UK Tour of The Reluctant Debutante, where she played the role of Clarissa. In the same year, she also played the character of Johanna in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

TV:

She has worked on screen, with credits to her name like Inner State (short, 2007); The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson (series, 2009-10); Scoop (series, 2011); Doctors (series, 2012) and The Turing Test (short, 2013). In 2015, she also acted in a documentary named Shakespeare in Practice: Muse of Fire. She was on CBBC’s show called Scoop alongside Mark Benton and Shaun Williamson.

Film:

She featured in the film The Woman in Black (2012) as the nursemaid.

Radio:

Her work in radio includes BBC Radio 4’s Lost In Mexico as Sally; BBC Radio 4’s The Russian Gambler as Katie, and Big Finish Productions’ Charley Pollard as Emmeline Leigh.
