Sadler's Wells' Associate Artist Russell Maliphant together with Greek composer Vangelis

Inspired by Ancient Greece and its many Hellenic dances, Russell Maliphant bands together with renowned Greek composer Vangelis to bring you a brand new show entitled The Thread. Embark on a journey through time as traditional and contemporary dance inspire and transform one another. Dance, movement, costumes and lighting together form a phenomenal performance that will take your breath away.

One of Sadler's Wells' most jaw-dropping dance of the year!

Maliphant and his partners have banded together to create an unforgettable experience. The so-called "choreographer of light" Michael Hulls brings spectacular lighting effects while Vangelis adds an explosive touch of electronic music that will leave you pulsating with thrill and excitement. The audial and visual sensory experience is backed by Vangelis's award-winning reputation - his score for Chariots of Fire garnered an Oscar in 1981.

Talented, engaging, wonderful dancers. Music and lights brought the production to life. I'm glad I was there to experience a premier.

Being greek i saw an embassador of my country not only producing a result for the greek art but for the international art. My spanish girlfriend, music teacher in spain was amazed. Probably a good greek art company could produce similar results in the centre of athens but watching this in such a beautiful theatre in london makes me proud. It is greek with a twist and i loved it. Dances that everyday people perform in days of joy, more elaborate and nicely executed. Well done guys

Truly fabulous performance

Justin Glass

Powerful, thrumming melodic music, highly creative dance routines and steps as coordinated and syncronised as by grenadiers if more evocative of Greece and the East.

Marietta Kasimatis

Excellent

Brilliant lighting, great energy and synchronisation of dancers! Music was very good and fitted in well with Greek based dance theme. I was sat in the Circle but had excellent sight lines. Only negatives were lack of legroom and selfish people videoing the performance in an almost dark atmosphere !

Enchanting!

Superb fusion of traditional Greek dance with contemporary. Also superb lighting which contributed enormously to the overall performance. Ditto costumes and music.
