Modanse comes to London’s Coliseum starring Svetlana Zakharova

Russian prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova, internationally acclaimed by critics and audiences worldwide, is set to star in the London Coliseum’s brand-new double bill produced by MuzArts. The stunning dancer will return to London this December for the first time since her sold-out 2017 programme Amore. Tickets for Modanse are in high demand for the must-see West End dance show this winter.

The dance company for Modanse

Svetlana Zakharova Bolshoi Ballet’s prima ballerina. At the age of 6, she began training at a local studio and at the age of 10 auditioned for her first dance school. From a young age, she excelled above other dancers, showcasing a remarkable talent. In 2003, Zakharov joined the Bolshoi Ballet in which she is still a part of. She rose to fame in the world of dance, and is widely regarded for her formidable technique, her grace, and her demand over both contemporary and classic roles. Her interpretations have thrilled the wider public and critics internationally. Zakharova will be joined by incredible dancers from Bolshoi Ballet, featuring Mikhail Lobukhin, Vaycheslav Lopatin, Denis Savin, Jacopo Tissi and Ana Turazashvili.

A tribute to Chanel

This double-bill ballet is a collaboration that will not only celebrate the wonderful dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet but will act as a tribute to Coco Chanel. The title role, performed by Zakharova, will explore the connections that Chanel had to the dance world. Chanel’s connections to Sergei Diaghilev will see his ballets Le Train Bleu (1924) and Apollon Musagète (1929) delved into and presented as a remarkable homage to Chanel’s relationship with the dance world. The tribute sees a wonderful collaboration between choreographer Yuri Possokhov and composer Ilya Demutsky.

As well as the story and dances that will pay tribute to Chanel, the remarkable costumes for the ballet have been exclusively designed by CHANEL Creative Studio. There are more than eighty costumes designed for the ballet, which were headed by the creative director of CHANEL Fashion House Virginie Viard.

Like a Breath

The truly unique style of this ballet sees the likes of the Baroque style of Händel’s music along with Mauro Bigonzetti’s choreography which beautifully complements each other. The costumes bring a dazzling contrast to match with its elegant but daring costumes which showcase further the sexuality of the dancers and emphasizes their movements.

Performance excellent. I was annoyed that I booked through an agent. It was difficult to find the correct site online. Therefore, I ended up paying £20 more than the ticket's face value.

A disappointing evening of unfortunate choreography and amateurish audio-visuals unworthy of a fine group of dancers. The short show was as disappointing as the tickets were overpriced. Anyone can see an impeccable ballet performance of the highest standard with a live orchestra at the Royal Ballet for a fraction of the cost. I will definitely think twice before purchasing tickets for any performance at this venue again.
