Begun in 2010 by theatre director Emmanuel Demarcy Mota , renowned French choreographer, Boris Charmatz, Emmanuel Demarcy, and Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, Danse Élargie: Dance Expanded is held over an intense two-day binge marathon at the praised Théâtre de la Ville .

Open to all dance disciplines and with just two provisos, this bi-annual competition is a contest like you've never seen or heard. In order to participate, a dance piece must contain at least three performers and be no longer than ten minutes in length.

What to expect from Danse Élargie: Dance Expanded at Sadler's Wells

Sadler's Wells is now set to play host to the three winners of the 2018 Danse Élargie competition, which includes Wild Card curator Kwame Asafo-Adjei's cinematic piece Family Honour, the toyfully ominous MUR/MER by Elsa Chêne, and the dark female-led piece Queen Blood, alongside a handful of finalists, including 2016 winner (LA) HORDE with their To Da Bone jumpstyle, Eye by Jusung Lee, Plubel by Fabritia D'Intino and Clémentine Vanlerberghe, and Wreck - List of extinct species by Pietro Marullo.
