Inspired by a true story and based on the hit movie, Made in Dagenham at the Adelphi Theatre is the uplifting new West End musical comedy about friendship, love and the importance of fighting for what is right.
Made in Dagenham is set in Essex 1968 where millions of other working women, each morning Rita O’Grady is just trying to get her husband out of bed, get the kids off to school and get to work at the factory on time. Life, however, is about to change forever when it’s announced that the girls in the stitching room of Ford’s Dagenham car plant will have their pay grade dropped to ‘unskilled’.
Quickly drawing on a strength she never knew she had, Rita leads her friends in a battle against the might of Ford and the corruption of the Union supposed to protect them. As the girls’ inspiring journey gets bigger than anyone could have imagined, the pressure is too much for some, but can Rita keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for?

REVIEW: Who Needs Chelsea? Made In Dagenham Is Much More Fun
I’m thinking about starting a revolution. Who’s with me? I haven’t figured out what we’re fighting for yet, but if Made In Dagenham’s anything to go by, we'll have a lot of fun.
The show, inspired by true events, tells the story of the 1968 Ford Machinists Strike in Dagenham, Essex, which was a significant step in achieving equal pay for men and women in the UK. Maybe that doesn’t sound like the stuff successful musicals are made of, but then you could say the same about Billy Elliot, and look how that turned out.

Made In Dagenham: The New Hottest Ticket In Town
I've been waiting for Made in Dagenham The Musical to open at the Adelphi Theatre for a very long time now, and because Made In Dagenham is my all time favourite non-musical movie as well, I've been waiting with very high hopes. So, as soon as ticket sales opened up, I booked to go to the first Saturday evening after the official opening (I hate previews) to finally quench my thirst for the show, and was pleasantly very satisfied!

Week 5 In The Life Of A Musical Theatre Fanatic
Thursday
It's half term, so for a lot of people the regular routine of life is broken. This means I have a very small Zumba class this morning. This is bad because
A. fewer people equals less money
B. No one likes playing to an empty theatre!
I read online that Wicked Sydney are running a competition to win a walk on part. They did this seven years ago in London, and obviously I entered. A friend and I hired a sports hall and trampoline and she filmed me bouncing up and down dressed as Elphaba singing "Defying Gravity" (it's on YouTube, check it out) It was great. I didn't win but they did give me some free tickets for getting to the final eight.
Off for a bit of horror experience on the trams in the evening. I'm working as an actor scaring people on Halloween tram rides in the evenings this week. It turns out that this could lead to a film role, although I'm playing a part of a crazed butcher's assistant, and I'm pretty sure my wailing and grunting aren't going to work well as an audition!
