Motown: the Musical at the iconic Shaftesbury Theatre.
The hit West End production of Motown: the Musical is now booking at the Shaftesbury Theatre until 20 April 2019!
With music and lyrics from the Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy the production features a sixteen-piece orchestra playing 50 Motown tracks including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, I’ll Be There, Dancing In The Street, Stop! In The Name Of Love, My Girl and I Heard It through the Grapevine. Charles Randolph-Wright’s production tells the story behind the classic hits.
It began as one man’s story… became everyone’s music…and is now Broadway’s musical. Motown: the Musical is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy's journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and so many more.
Motown: the Musical tells the story behind the hits as Diana, Smokey, Berry and the whole Motown family fight against the odds to create the soundtrack that changed America. Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat. Now, experience it live on Broadway in the record-breaking smash hit Motown: the Musical!

Nice songs not a great story though.
Motown The Musical brilliant and I recommend this musical. However The Shaftesbury Theatre ticket/box office changed my tickets/seats rudely to their own needs. Poor service from the box office.
Its a lovely musical and we both (wife & me) enjoyed it for the musical performances, i felt some of the story got lost tho, however very entertaining and very pleased we went.
My mum and niece, love the show, my niece was smiley all the way through and the next day.
Fantastic Music!
Very enjoyable, cast were fantastic, fab costumes. But the sound quality wasn't good too loud and distorted at times, singers came across as shouting not singing.
great show in a fantastic venue, just a great shame the temperature int he theatre was almost unbearable.
This show was brilliant from start to finish!!
Brilliant, fabulous
The show was amazing ! All you love and want to listen to and ... sing! Moving when it comes to romance and History, making constant links with the Civil Rights Movement. Perfect facilities to purchase and collect our tickets via London-theatre-direct ! Many thanks !
Was unhappy that I was charged £17.00 more than face value on each ticket. The show was average, not any atmosphere in fact there was a notice in the loos discouraging you from being too enthusiastic and you might be asked to leave. Musicals you do get up and dance this was encouraged right at the end of the show. Very disappointed !!
It was a fantastic performance. Myself and my teenage foster child loved it. It was great

REVIEW: Is Motown the Musical really just Motown in Concert?
Motown music is brilliant, and Motown the Musical is a fun, highly energetic celebration of that. The quality of the production is great, but is it more concert that musical? I think so.

Review: Motown Is A Lively, Easy-Going Show, With Legendary Music
Motown the Musical, currently playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, is a lively, easy-going show, with legendary music crammed into every minute of it. Fast paced and energetic, the show revolves heavily around the music of Motown, with pieces of story weaved in. The show, although primarily just good fun, does not shy away from touching on more serious points linked in with the culture surrounding Motown, adding a sense of depth to the production.
