The London premiere of David Bowie’s Lazarus at the West End this autumn!
Directed by Ivo van Hove, Lazarus is inspired by Walter Tevis’ best-selling 1963 novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, which was subsequently made into a film starring Bowie, and features new songs specially composed by Bowie as well as new arrangements of previously recorded songs including Changes, Absolute Beginners and The Man Who Sold The World.
The world premiere production of Lazarus starring Michael C Hall opened on 7 December 2015 at the New York Theatre Workshop, off-Broadway, shortly before Bowie’s death from cancer. Michael C Hall reprises his leading role from the New York production.
Lazarus is based on the classic sci-fi novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis and centers on the character of Thomas Newton, famously portrayed by David Bowie in the 1976 film. In search of water for his dying planet, an alien arrives on earth. Experimented on by the Government and prevented from leaving, he is doomed to live a miserable reclusive life surrounded by wealth and excess. A glimmer of hope arises when a mysterious girl appears to help him escape planet Earth. But something lurks in the shadows.
Directed by Ivo van Hove with sets and lighting by Jan Versweyveld, costumes by An D’Huys, video by Tal Yarden, sound by Brian Ronan; choreography by Annie-B Parson and dramaturgy by Jan Peter Gerrits.
Lazarus is running from 25 October 2016 until 22 January 2017 at the Kings Cross Theatre South.

Very well interpreted. Music actors voices lights videos technical effects : genious full of emotions i am french and could understand quite well David Bowie's photo at the end filled me with a lot of emotion with a little tear. Thanks for all the people who works for that.
I loved seeing Michael C Hall play, and I would recommend the show to anyone who appreciates a night out being entertained by a great actor !
Great performance, great music, nice location!
If there was an interval I would have got up and left, absolute rubbish.
Unhinged but strangely moving! Fabulous acting, singing and musicianship, with really effective interaction with multimedia. I loved it.

Fantastic play. Briljant Music. Artistic. Good Place, C26.
A fabulous production. I saw it for the third time yesterday and once again was wowed by the cast and musicians.
Superb acting accompanied by good music, overall a decent experience.
An amazing show in the Bowie style based upon The Man Who Fell to Earth. Amazing lighting and video effects including very powerful strobe effects. The music is played and presented brilliantly. Fantastic.
Brilliant musical - vocals and music excellent. Back projection and lighting are awesome. Kings Cross theatre not the right venue for all the acting on the floor of the stage. If you were further than half way you were constantly bobbing to see actors and with everyone doing the same this spoilt it somewhat. Maybe raise the stage a bit??
The main character in the show was great - brilliant voice. Very good video installations, great Bowie - music, but also a rather sad plot.
