Based on the 2001 film that earned 2 BAFTA awards and 5 Oscar® nominations, the musical adaptation of Amelie is transferring to London for a limited run following its UK tour. This vivid reimagining of the beloved film features all-new orchestrations to help tell the story of our outwardly reserved but inwardly wildly imaginative heroine who has a knack for helping people she comes across.
Amélie is an amazing young woman who seems to live quietly in the world, not making much fuss but in her mind, she lives life out loud. She secretly organises small, but extraordinary acts of kindness to bring happiness to strangers and friends alike. When a real chance for love comes to the shy but romantic Amélie, she’ll have to find her voice and discover the power of connection and the value of her own happiness. Will she risk everything to say what is in her heart?
Cast and Creatives of Amelie
The cast of the UK tour of Amélie will reprise their roles for the limited West End run. Amelie the musical stars French-Canadian actress Audrey Brisson who has performed in multiple National Theatre productions and was an acrobat and singer for Cirque du Soleil. She is joined by Danny Mac (Sunset Boulevard) as Nino, Caolan McCarthy (The Plough and the Stars) as Hippolito/Elton John and Charley Magalit (The Cat in the Hat) as Cecile. Chris Jared (946: the Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips) will play Raymond, Emma Jane Morgan (Sweet Charity) is Delphine and Faoileann Cunningham (Mary Stuart) plays the dual roles of Georgette and Sylvie.The cast is completed by Jez Unwin (Once) as Raphael/Bretodeau, Johnson Willis (Harold and Maude) as Collignon/Dufayel, Josh Sneesby (The Hypocrite) as Blind Beggar, Kate Robson-Stuart (Crazy for You) as Suzanne, Nuwan Hugh Perera (Side Show) as Jean-Yves Oliver Grant (War Horse) as Lucien/Mysterious Man/Gnome, Rachel Dawson (The Jungle Book) as Amandine/Philomene, Samuel Morgan-Grahame (Sister Act) as Joseph/Fluffy, and Sophie Crawford (War Horse) as Gina.
Amelie features music by Daniel Messé of Hem with lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Daniel Messé The book is by Craig Lucas, based on the film written by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant. Amelie is directed by Michael Fentiman.

Early on, I struggled to get to grips with some of the nuances but that changed and I found it a thoroughly interesting and riveting work. A very talented cast and a great set.
Every performer in this show is multi-talented, singing, acting and playing instruments. The show was stunning and moving, and was a great adaptation of the film. The actress playing Amelie was absolutely outstanding.

A thoroughly engaging, creative and funny production. The cast are all incredibly talented and the set was so inventive. Some of the songs were a bit cheesy for my taste but other energising and witty numbers made up for it! Loved the detail of the music and having the instruments on stage - especially the Cajon. The figs were genius! Audrey Brisson's voice was beautiful. Thanks all.
We (7 people aged14-56) thought it was truly amazing. The best theatre we have seen in a while. Fantastic music was a surprise. The actors and actresses brilliant and set. I wonder which story is the next one for the director? I will look out for it. Thank you

Loved the energy and enthusiasm of this. Such talented cast but . . . due to French accents and overpowering music we found it very difficult to hear the dialogue and to follow the story.

I think it was a great musical. The actors were so good - very talented and fun to watch. Unfortunately in my particular case as I am the biggest fan of the movie as well as the music, I was a little upset at the beginning when I realized that it's not the original music that has been used. The new music and singing were of high quality but not even close to the style of the original mostly. Still fantastic to watch and a nice homage to this beautiful movie.

Amélie London Cast Recording album to be released next week
It has just been announced that a London original cast recording for Amélie The Musical is set to be released in early June. The album was produced by Tony Award winner Sean Patrick Flahaven, Chief Theatricals Executive of Concord, who has been a producer on many albums, 12 of which were nominated for Grammy Awards. Flahaven (who was also behind such hit OCR albums as those of Come From Away, Once, and Hamilton) was joined by co-producers Michael Fentiman, Barnaby Race, and Nathan Tysen for the Amélie OCR. Having received overwhelming critical acclaim from both audiences and critics alike, Amélie ran at London's Other Palace from 29 November 2019 until 1 February 2020.
