Based on the award-winning movie that captured the hearts and imagination of a generation back in the 1990’s, Ghost the Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre  is a rollercoaster ride of romance, comedy, drama and excitement

In Ghost the Musical, young lovers  Sam and Molly are mugged on the way back to their apartment, leaving Sam murdered on a dark street. Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next and unable to leave Molly who he learns is in grave danger. With the help of a phony storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving and protecting her.

The amazing special effects and dazzling staging in Ghost the Musical are by the multi award-winning Paul Kieve (Inner Magic Circle member) and direction is by Tony Award-winner Matthew Warchus. The score is by rock legends and Grammy award winners, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson and Alanis Morrisette) and features the unforgettable Unchained Melody, forever linked with that pottery-making scene in the film.

The current Ghost the Musical cast includes Mark Evans as Sam, the role that Patrick Swayze made famous, a ghost trapped between this world and the next trying to communicate with his girlfriend Molly. Adapted for the stage by Bruce Joel Rubin from his own Oscar-winning screenplay, Siobhan Dillon (finalist in the BBC’s How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?) stars as Molly with Sharon D Clarke (EastEnders and Holby City) in the Whoopi Goldberg role as phoney psychic, Oda Mae Brown.

This show has to be seen to be believed so book your Ghost the Musical tickets today!

Ghost The Musical - why you must see it before it closes

The run of Ghost The Musical is being cut short to make way for Viva Forever, the Spice Girls musical which will start its previews at the Piccadilly Theatre on 27th November.   Whilst we are excited about the upcoming Spicefest we can't help be sad that Ghost will be moving on from the West End.  A national tour seems likely but dates or venues have not been announced as yet.  We have a sneaky feeling that Ghost The Musical is going to follow the same pattern as Dirty Dancing.  Billed as Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story On Stage, that show departed the Aldwych Theatre in July 2011 after a five year run prior to its own national tour.   It is one of the most requested shows that are no longer in London with customers kicking themselves that they didn't snap up tickets sooner.

According to the Daily Mail, Ghost The Musical is set to close later this year to make way for the eagerly awaited Spice Girls musical Viva Forever. The musical would open at the Piccadilly Theatre in December after November previews, just catching the tail end of 2012 - a year already choc full of 'proud to be British' events.

I have been SO excited about this musical, and followed every bit of information about it (as regular visitors to this blog will no doubt know, hehe) and so seeing the show tonight was definitely one of my most anticipated visits to a theatre that I’ve ever had (and, believe me, I tend to go a lot, thanks to this blog and work!).
