Bare: A Pop Opera

This self-styled pop opera follows a group of students at a Catholic Boarding school as they struggle to deal with their identity, sexuality and futures. There are crushes and rivalries, secret relationships and crises of faith which all unfold as the group is trying to put on a musical production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The teens seem at odds with each other and themselves as well as their families and the heads of the religious institution where they are being educated. This contemporary sung-through musical explores the cost of barring your soul versus the impact of hiding who you are.

Bare: A Pop Opera London Cast and Creatives

The Bare: A Pop Opera Vaults cast introduces several new faces to the London theatre scene. Our two young lovers are played by Daniel Mack Shand as Peter and Darragh Cowley (Spring Awakening, Snow White) as Jason. They are joined by Georgie Lovatt as Nadia, Lizzie Emery as Ivy and Tom Hier as Matt. They are supported by Jo Napthine (Mamma Mia, Jerry Springer: The Opera, Made in Dagenham)as Peter’s mother, Claire and Mark Jardine (Emmerdale, The League of Youth, Of Mice and Men) as The Priest.  The cast is rounded out by American X-Factor and Celebrity Big Brother UK contestant Stacy Francis as Sister Chantelle.

Bare features music and lyrics by Damon Intrabartolo and Jon Hartmere, respectively while the book was done together by the pair. The show is directed by Julie Atherton.

Me - Mark Vinson

A superb production which really should be in the West End at a quirky and quite wonderfully dreamlike, funky and urban venue. An amazing evening. Staff all wonderfully friendly and helpful at the venue. Amazing production with a great cast. Absolutely adore this show, it’s such a great pity it has now closed! (Bare: A Pop Opera).

Amy

The performance was amzing and teh cast were terrific. Only complaint would be the akward seating that meant not all parts of the stage visible. But overall well worth the money paid.

Siobhan Doyle

Only complaint was the temperature, great show!
