Presented by Bill Kenwright, Blood Brothers continues its tour of the UK which is currently set to finish on 9 April 2022. Could there be a West End Blood Brothers production on the horizon? A Summer run of the iconic British musical would go down a treat with London theatre fans for sure!

Blood Brothers originally opened at London’s Lyric Theatre in 1983, winning two Olivier Awards including Best New Musical. The musical last played in the West End at the Phoenix Theatre and ran for an impressive 21 years, with over 10,000 performances, and coming to an end in November 2021. It’s time this beloved show made a return to the West End!

Blood Brothers cast and creative

The 2021-22 UK tour of Blood Brothers is co-directed by Bob Tomson whose credits include Evita (UK Tour) and Dreamboats and Petticoats (West End). The production is also co-directed by Bill Kenwright who is one of the West End’s most successful producers. His works include The Wizard of Oz, Cabaret and most recently Heathers the Musical. His directing credits include Whistle Down the Winds.

The production has lighting design by Nick Richings, set and costume design by Adam Walmsley, sound by Dan Samson, with Scott Adler as musical director.

Blood Brothers has a book by Willy Russell, who also composed the score and wrote the lyrics. Willy Russell is an award-winning playwright and as well as winning an Olivier Award for Best New Musical for Blood Brothers, he won Best New Play for his work on Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine.

The UK 2021-22 touring cast of Blood Brothers stars Lyn Paul as Mrs Johnson, Robbie Scotcher as Narrator, Alexander Patmore as Mickey, Joel Benedict as Eddie, Paula Tappenden as Mrs Lyons, Danny Taylor as Sammy, Danielle Corlass as Linda, Tim Churchill as Mr Lyons, Graham Martin as Policeman/Teacher, Hannah Barr as Brenda, Grace Galloway as Donna-Marie, Graham Kinniburgh as Bus Conductor, Shaun McCourt as Perkins and Connor Bannister as Neighbour.

Blood Brother synopsis

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and heartbreaking story of two brothers, Mickey and Edward, who are separated at birth but brought together again by an unlikely friendship. The pair find themselves intertwined, despite their family’s determination to keep them apart and in the dark. Edward leads a privileged life whilst Mickey lives a life of poverty, drawing a further wedge between them.
