Hamilton In London

The infamous Hamilton, a sung-and-rapped-through musical about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton with music, lyrics and a book by Lin-Manuel Miranda, has taken the West End's Victoria Palace Theatre by storm.

Hamilton tells the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton tickets give you the oppurtunity to witness the story of America then, told by America now.

The hit musical also details the lives of other important figures in American history, including former US presidents Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington as well as Aaron Burr, Angelica Schuyler, Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, Gilbert du Motier, Hercules Mulligan, John Laurens, Marquis de Lafayette, Peggy Schuyler, and Philip Hamilton.

A Presidential Affair

The spectacularly successful hit Broadway musical made its off-Broadway debut at The Public Theatre in February 2015 and quickly sold out. Hamilton later transferred to Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre in August 2015, opening to rave reviews and enthusiastic critical acclaim -and it goes without saying, that Hamilton tickets became extremely popular!

Hamilton on Broadway has won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The off-Broadway production received 14 nominations while the Broadway production has been nominated for an all-time record-setting 16 Tony Awards. The West End transfer of Hamilton is noted for winning seven Olivier Awards in 2018, including the award for Best New Musical.

The Hamilton film was released nearly a year and a half before its intended theatrical release at a time when people around the world were in desperate need of entertainment. The taped Broadway performance was just the ticket for an entertaining night at home. Hamilton Disney Plus cast stars the show’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda in the titular role.

Critical Acclaim And Fun Facts

  • The original cast album has sold millions of copies worldwide, attracting the likes of former President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda's fellow Broadway star Ben Platt.
  • The music of Hamilton is a delightful and genre-defying fusion of style, wordplay, historical references and emotional depth.
  • Lin-Manuel Miranda was vacationing in Mexico when he came across author Ron Chernow's biography of Hamilton, after reading it, he began to wonder - what would the founding father's life look like as a musical?
  • Hamilton was composed over a seven-year period from 2008 to 2015. It was definitely worth the wait!
  • Hamilton is historically accurate, with both the story and the lyrics being thoroughly researched. An example of this is that lines from personal letters and other documents and often featured in the song's lyrics.
  • The Guardian ranked Hamilton the second-greatest theatrical work since 2000.

Victoria Palace Theatre Best Seats and Seating Plan

Victoria Palace Theatre Best Seats and Seating Plan

London’s Victoria Palace Theatre is a Grade II listed building which has been home to many large scale productions, including the popular musicals Billy Elliot, Annie, Fame, The Buddy Holly Story and most recently Hamilton. The original structure began life as the Royal Standard Hotel and was extended to become Moy’s Music Hall in 1850 until it was demolished in 1910, before being rebuilt by prolific theatre architect Frank Matcham and opening to the public a year later. With so much history in this building, there’s a lot to take in! So where’s the best place to sit and soak up the atmosphere? We’ve taken a detailed look at the Victoria Palace Theatre seating plan to give you the best options!

What are the best seats at the Victoria Palace Theatre?

There are three floors at the Victoria Palace Theatre; the Stalls, which are located on the ground floor, offer over half of the allocated seating of the building! The 717 plush red chairs are a top choice for those wanting to be immersed in the action on stage.

The Royal Circle is located above the stalls offering excellent views of the stage, and unlike some other theatres of its age it does not have any pillars creating restricted views within its auditorium.

The Grand Circle on the third floor of the theatre is severely raked, which means every row gets an excellent view of the stage. However, the legroom isn’t as roomy as the levels below, which is something to consider if you’re quite tall!
