Wicked Extends Booking Period, Enters 9th Spellbinding Year On Stage

Wicked, the spellbinding smash-hit musicalis extending its booking period to 7 November 2015, it has been announced.
Wicked is entering its 9th year in the West End, and has opened its 18th new booking period yesterday (Monday 8 September, 2014) with 500,000 new tickets on sale for performances until Saturday 7 November, 2015.
Wicked tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz. As it flies into its 9th spellbinding year, the London production of this worldwide musical phenomenon is now the 10th longest-running show in the West End, following in the footsteps of the great musical classics we know and love. A multi award-winning musical after 9 years, Wicked continues to break Box Office records. Just this year Wicked experienced the most successful summer in its entire run with packed, sell-out shows and an incredible 160,000 people seeing the show through July and August.
It remains "one of the country's strongest and most enduringly popular shows" (Harper's Bazaar), and has been seen by over 6 million theatregoers at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre alone. Meanwhile, around the world Wicked has been seen by over 42 million people and counting in 13 countries, snapping up 100 international awards. The original Broadway production is still going and remains "Broadway's biggest blockbuster" (The New York Times) after more than a decade, proving it is one of the most popular family friendly shows.
While the Wicked West End production continues its wildly popular open-ended run, another production is touring the UK and booking until the summer of 2015.
Currently starring in the Wicked London production is the original British Elphaba, Kerry Ellis, alongside Savannah Stevenson (Glinda), Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero), Sue Kelvin (Madame Morrible), Martyn Ellis (The Wizard), Paul Clarkson (Doctor Diliamond), Sam Lupton (Boq), and Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose).
Based on the international best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that ingeniously re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
