Pictured: Joseph Sansome plays tribute to the late George Michael
For younger generations who have never heard of George Michael, real name Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, Michael was a singer and songwriter (and later openly gay) whose music touched the hearts of millions for over thirty magnificent years. He delved into multiple genres, including pop, post-disco, dance-pop, R&B and soul and has been associated with Freddie Mercury, Queen, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Whiteny Houston, Paul McCartney, and Mary J. Blige. When Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in 1991, George Michael performed the lead vocals for “Somebody to Love” in tribute of the fallen star. Now, over 25 years later, tribute is being paid to George Michael, whose death sent shockwaves on Christmas morning. But his life and his music live on.
Fastlove: a Tribute to George Michael is a trip through the star’s life in the fast lane. Packed with George Michael’s best songs, including "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Careless Whisper", "Faith", "Jesus to Child" and "Father Figure", all performed by Joseph Sansome, this is one moving concert you won’t want to miss!
The Fastlove George Michael tribute concert will run for just three nights at the Lyric Theatre. Performances will take place on 15 October, 5 November, and 3 December.
