The production now in its third year has transformed the Savoy Theatre into a pink haven for Elle and her sorority girlfriends. Legally Blonde The Musical opened in December 2009 to rave reviews and the show went on to win seven theatre awards including the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical. Legally Blonde The Musical continues its tour of the UK and plans are in place for an Australian production to open in Sydney later this year.
With West End audience numbers of over three quarters of a million to date, Legally Blonde The Musical premiered with Sheridan Smith playing the role of college sweetheart Elle Woods. Smith went on to win the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
