London is renowned for being one of the largest cities offering everyone all kinds of entertainment, whether that be watching a musical or play in the West End, or dining in a unique venue be sure to check out the full list of London venues and events.
One must never forget how much there is to see and do in this impressive city.
If you choose to attend one of the many West End musicals or plays, you won’t be disappointed, London has some amazing theatres showing some of the best performances in theatreland. Venues themselves are generally old historical buildings, which alone can make your evening extra special.
London, of course, is home to the British Royal Family, and the city will come alive with the event of the year – The Royal Wedding. This will take place in the magnificent Westminster Abbey and will be shown live on televisions across the nation. Members of the public will be able to view the parade in the streets of London, or can even sit in glorious Hyde Park to watch the events unfold on the big screens.
Whether you are planning a meeting, conference, exhibition, reception or special dinner, London has some of the most exclusive and prestigious venues in the world. This could be an evening by the River Thames, a River Thames dinner cruise, a wedding reception in a beautiful garden or park, a formal dinner in an historic building or an awayday in a contemporary setting. Some of these venues include The Natural History Museum, Fortnum and Mason, Tate Modern Hampton Court Palace, even London Zoo. The best way to capture the amazing views London has on offer is to take a trip aboard the magical London Eye.
Every year London is host to the famous Wimbledon tennis championship. This worldwide event takes place over two weeks in June and is just 15 mins south west of the city. You normally have to pre-book tickets, but you can also queue from early morning to try and obtain tickets for the event on the day. Wimbledon is very easy to get to with underground and national rail services, it is well worth going just to enjoy the strawberries and cream!
Another summer hotspot is Hyde Park. Throughout the year, the park hosts a wide variety of music concerts and festival themed days. Very popular in the summer months of course, and youngsters and families can enjoy an outdoor concert whilst having picnics and soaking up the sun!
2012 is a significant year for London venues and events, as the city hosts the Olympics. A new stadium is being built especially for the occasion and Londoners and tourists will be able to enjoy all of what London has to offer for years to come.
