NEW BBC GLEE-INSPIRED MUSICAL THEATRE SERIES

The BBC is soon to launch its own BBC Glee Club contest where young performers will compete from around the UK. Musical theatre fans will be able to perform in the series being prepared for broadcast later this year.

Hundreds of musical theatre and performance groups have already been auditioned for the show, provisionally titled CBBC Glee Club, with 18 of these being selected to go through to a second round of auditions, taking place at the end of January.

The selected groups will then be given the opportunity to work with professional vocal coaches and a choreographer. In the next stage, nine groups will be chosen and they will have the opportunity to showcase their singing and dancing skills before viewers in a series of live shows. The final show is set to be broadcast as part of the BBC’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day event on 18th March.

Damain Kavanagh, CBBC controller, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our young viewers to realise their dreams of performing on a huge stage and encourage people to raise money for a good cause at the same time. The shows will be packed with entertainment and with the added high drama of the competition, this will be an unmissable week for all viewers.”
