Zoë Wanamaker returns to the West End in Passion Play, Peter Nichols’ celebrated black comedy Passion Play at the Duke of York’s Theatre.

In Passion Play, James and Eleanor’s world is upended when James agrees to a secret rendezvous with their recently widowed friend Kate.  Fib by fib, the affair strips the marriage bare and reveals the hidden desires and secret passions that lie beneath our everyday facades.

A glorious meeting of humour, eroticism and duplicity, this triumphant modern classic and winner of the Evening Standard Award for Best Play makes a much-anticipated return to the West End, reuniting Director David Leveaux (Arcadia, Cyrano de Bergerac starring Kevin Kline and Through a Glass Darkly starring Carey Mulligan) with Zoë Wanamaker (Harry Potter, BBC1’s My Family and most recently seen on stage in All My Sons and National Theatres’ The Cherry Orchard) for the first time since their award-winning collaboration in Electra (Donmar Warehouse).

Zoe Wannamaker is joined in Passion Play by Owen Teale (West End and Broadway's A Doll's House, RSC's King Lear and Sky1's Stella), Samantha Bond (Downton Abbey, Outnumbered, Miss Moneypenny in James Bond), Oliver Cotton (BBC's Ripper Street, The Dark Knight Rises), Sian Thomas (Donmar's Richard II, Merlin, Harry Potter) and Annabel Scholey (Lady Anne opposite Kevin Spacey in Richard III, Eastenders, Jayne Eyre).
