Critically acclaimed The Kite Runner soars again in the West End's Playhouse Theatre

Based on Khaled Hosseini’s international best-selling novel, this powerful story has been adapted into a stunning new stage production. A haunting tale of friendship which spans cultures and continents, it follows one man’s journey to confront his past and find redemption.

Afghanistan is a divided country on the verge of war and two childhood friends are about to be torn apart. It’s a beautiful afternoon in Kabul and the skies are full of the excitement and joy of a kite flying tournament. But neither Hassan or Amir can foresee the terrible incident which will shatter their lives forever.

The ticket collection process was seamless and the staff were very friendly. The show itself was a masterpiece. I have seen quite a few shows in The West End, but the execution by the actors/actresses in this show was flawless. Very entertaining night.

A very thought provoking performance

Herbert Kestenbaum

the story on which the play is based is a strong one, but I felt that the transition from book to stage was not fully successful. The performance seemed more a recitation of much of the book's words, which did not satisfy me. I would have preferred to read the narrator's account myself than hear someone virtually read it to me. The action on stage seemed artificial, created to justify the dialogue. I do not quarrel with the acting, just with the premise of the play.

I appreciated the story, very sad and moving at times. It guides you through life in afghanistan before and during the war, which is not something that you can easily get in touch with...Less appreciated was the acting and the scenario, though i'm not an expert of theatre, it didn't make me wonder. Suggested if you like middle-east culture and struggling stories.

Great show but theatre was very hot.

Excellent seats in a lovely old theatre. The Kite Runner was an amazing gripping play starring top class performances from all the cast, especially the lead role.To be the narrator and act act in the play at the same time worked brilliantly. So glad to have seen such a wonderful play

This play was as 'un put downable' as the book. It gripped us from beginning to end with it's intensity. An interesting use of adults playing the parts of children. Strong charachters played by excellent actors. The minimal set was cleverly utilised. I would strongly recommend.

Excellent play, really well staged. Superb acting. Have read the book and it captured the story very well.

spectacular! Highly recommend.

The Kite runner is a truely fantastic play. Emotional, engaging, gripping - everything you want from a serious play. The sales company the theatre use to sell tickets on the other hand are quite the opposite. Make sure you don't make any mistake in the booking process or they'll screw every possible pound out of you to fix it.
