Following critically-acclaimed productions of Betrayal and Old TimesIan Rickson reunites with Sonia Friedman Productions to direct a new production of Harold Pinter’s landmark play The Birthday Party coming to The Harold Pinter Theatre.

Stanley Webber (Toby Jones) is the only lodger at Meg (Zoë Wanamaker) and Petey Boles’ sleepy seaside boarding house. The unsettling arrival of enigmatic strangers Goldberg (Stephen Mangan) and McCann disrupts the humdrum lives of the inhabitants and their friend Lulu, and mundanity soon becomes menace when a seemingly innocent birthday party turns into a disturbing nightmare. Truth and alliances hastily shift in Pinter's brilliantly mysterious dark-comic masterpiece about the absurd terrors of the everyday.

With a cast featuring a trio of Olivier Award winners, Golden Globe Award-nominated Toby Jones (The Play What I WroteEvery Good Boy Deserves FavourSherlock), Tony Award-nominated Stephen Mangan (The Norman ConquestsJeeves and Wooster, Episodes) and Tony Award-nominated Zoë Wanamaker CBE (HarlequinadePassion PlayMy Family) star in this comedy of menace.

The Birthday Pary tickets are available now and booking through April 14th .

Lovely theatre hosting a wonderful performance with accomplished actors.

Caroline Hunt

Actors were fantastic - plot was terrible, there are far better things to go and see in the West End.

Ana Mafalda Goncalves Johannsen

Amazing play. Wonderful performance. Totally worth it!

Janet

I loved The Birthday Party, this was the second time I had seen it. The acting was of the highest calibre, I was so glad I got to see it. The theatre staff were brilliant, friendly and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended.

RICHARD CHASE

Great cast, fantastic acting but a very poor play

Corinna Biermann

Very funny, good cast. Highly recommended. We toughroughly enjoyed the play.

Richard Price

A perfect production of a favourite play of mine. (If only the National Theatre was so good!) Although sitting up in the balcony and with deteriorating hearing, I could hear every word distinctly. Was there, I wondered, some form of amplification?

Pam Lorenz

An outstanding performance of a time honoured play. The acting was exceptional and helped to make a play of the 50sl still relevant today - with all its menace, looking to the past but unrealistically seeking some ' golden future', Brexit here we come!

Pedro Mexia

Goldberg is great, great delivery.

Ronald Davis

I was disappointed to see that on arriving at the theatre all tickets were £15.00; we paid double that!

Spencer Carroll

Brilliant. Gripping. Hilarious. Philosophical

Deborah Odong

Brilliant performance! What a play! I enjoyed every minute of it! Thank you all so much!
