The Daughter-in-Law tickets are now available for the return of this stunning revival to the Arcola Theatre.

The first run of this show, the first in London in over 15 years, was a huge success. The completely sold out run garnered 3 Off West End Award nominations and critical acclaim including calls for a West End transfer. D H Lawrence’s The Daughter-in-Law returns to London’s premiere Off West End venue, the Arcola, for 4 weeks only.

Set amidst the mining strikes of 1912, D H Lawrence’s ‘ordinary’ tale of life, love and family was never performed or published in his lifetime. When trouble comes to the mines and to the Gascoyne family home, lines have to be drawn and decisions have to be made. A newlywed couple, a mother, a daughter-in-law and a secret all mix together during the mining strikes of 1912. This sensitive and honest glimpse into family life centres on sex, class and politics in the most natural ways possible.

Do not miss your chance to see Jack Gamble’s in-the-round staging of this compelling working-class drama.

Tickets for The Daughter-in-Law at the Arcola Theatre are extremely limited so book now to ensure your seat.

Excellent production, acting first-rate.

Andrew Schofield

Extremely interesting early 20th century sexual politics from D.H. Lawrence, by modern standards a little simplistic perhaps but delivered with enormous panache and of its time. Expert attention to Nottinghamshire dialect and idioms can take a while to tune into, but some gems if you catch them (again, mostly offensive to modern sensibilities). Terrific performances all round, powerful stuff.

M C Stevenson

Excellent performance which completely absorbed us.

Mr A Simmonds

Loved this production. Great little theatre

Irene

Brilliant acting and production. You did not need all the fake smoke in the air after initial scene-setting/ play opening, it just made me cough!

Michael Bell

Congratulations on this outstanding production of a deceptively difficult play. You caught the nuances of shifting feeling in the characters and were always convincing in the emotional expression. All the characters were powerful with Mrs Purdyand Joe as major presences. Luther is sometimes a weak link as he has to be unmanned by his mother yet with the potential to explain Minnie’s love for him. The actor managed this beautifully. Well done and thank you all round.

Anna Lewis

This is a wonderful play. The cast performed it perfectly and stayed true to DHLawrence’s original.

Lively and engaging production with a real feeling of authenticity for the place and the time.

Keith Taylor

Excellent show, possibly new front of house staff did not seem to know where our seats were.

Spencer Cleminson

Brilliant acting in a thought provoking piece of theatre
