The Starry Messenger Wyndham's Theatre tickets are not to be missed!

Matthew Broderick takes to the West End stage for the first time ever with the London premiere of The Starry Messenger starring Elizabeth McGovern of Downton Abbey.

The Starry Messenger tickets are now available! Do not miss out on your opportunity to see two of the stars of our generation come together on the London stage in BAFTA and Academy Award-winning writer Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger.

What is The Starry Messenger play about?

Are we all just sad and minuscule souls dwarfed by the infinite multiverse?

Mark Williams (Matthew Broderick) is an ordinary, run of the mill man, a little bit boring truth be told. He always wanted to be an astronomer but has settled for a job teaching at New York City's Hayden Planetarium. His son doesn't speak to him and his marriage is much the same as his career, normal if a bit boring. Mark is so close to the infinite universe, in fact, that his wife Anne feels worlds apart. All of this changes, however, after a chance encounter with his student and single mother Angela following one of his lessons. The Starry Messenger shows the effect of this affair on a group of people who are, like most people, everyday and unremarkable.

The Starry Messenger is coming to the West End at Wyndham's Theatre, London for a limited 3-month run starting 16 May and ending 10 August 2019

He is also known for his long-lasting marriage to Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker, with whom he has a son and twin daughters. Broderick was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.

Elizabeth McGovern is an Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress whose most recent stage appearance was in the Theatre Royal, Bath production of God of Carnage. McGovern played  Evelyn Nesbit in the 1981 film Ragtime, the role for which she received her Academy Award nomination. This was the last performance of the run so the cast was well settled in. For me the production failed in what seemed to be an attempt to say something about the affairs of human life and its meaning in/for the universe. The quality of the acting, though, presented many compelling set-pieces, and I often found myself having that lovely experience of forgetting that I was in a theatre, so absorbed was I in what what going on on the stage. A moving and funny production performed by very gifted actors.

Catherine Lancaster

Great play good seats

John Brookfield

This was a very clever and subtle play, and the performances were great. The subject matter was unusual, not so much in it's portrayal of a mid-life crisis, but it relating the character's disappointment to the smallness of individual humans in the immensity of the universe. Matthew Broderick has a unique acting style. which was perfect for the role. The publicity was a bit misleading, giving equal to billing to Matthew Broderick and Elizabeth McGovern, when the former had a much larger role. Rosalind Eleazar was tremendous and I hope that she is in many more productions.

Miren Land

Actors were fabulous. The script was horrendous.

Eriana

Dissapointing

Kseniia Kuznetsova

Very funny and touching. The stage is brilliantly built. Worth seeing!

Marietta Westphal

Lot of unbearable lengths! Much too long!

Ms A E Alpe

very enjoyable

Richard Blair

Some funny parts, not a great script. Went mainly to see the two stars.
