Bitter Wheat West End Garrick Theatre tickets among the hottest in London!
Money. Power. Glory. Sex. That's precisely what sums up this provocative new play by David Mamet on the infamous sexual assault accusations surrounding some of Hollywood's most elite. Scandals that not only saw the end to some Hollywood moguls' careers but also that marked the beginning of the #metoo movement.
At the beginning of 2018, David Mamet's longtime Broadway producer suggested he write a show about these sexual assault allegations-- so he did. This newest play by the Pulitzer Prize-winning writer is set to make its world premiere in the West End's very own Garrick Theatre. Legendary actor John Malkovich will be staring in the new drama, slated for a 4-month run from June to September of 2019. Bitter Wheat tickets are sure to be among the most sought-after of the season!
John Malkovich stars in Bitter Wheat alongside talented cast
Renowned actor and producer John Malkovich plays Barney Fein, a fictional character based on people who were embroiled in the scandal. The highly prolific actor has starred in more than seventy films and is a giant of both stage and screen. A charter member of the iconic Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Malkovich made his Broadway debut playing Biff in Death of a Salesman. The role would land him an Emmy when it was later adapted for television. Malkovich is known for his appearances in such films as Places in the Heart, The Glass Menagerie, and Dangerous Liaisons. He is also a Moliere award-winning director and recently starred alongside Sandra Bullock in the Netflix smash hit, Bird Box, as well as in a 3-part adaptation of Agatha Christie's The A.B.C. Murders, in which he portrayed iconic detective Hercule Poirot.
Bitter Wheat features an all-star cast that includes Alexander Arnold in the role of Roberto, Doon Mackichan in the role of Barney Fein's assistant Sondra, Ioanna Kimbrook in the role of Yung Kim Li, Matthew Pidgeon in the role of The Writer, Teddy Kempner in the role of Doctor Wald, and Zephryn Taitte in the role of Charles Arthur Brown.

Q&A With Ioanna Kimbook, Bitter Wheat
David Mamet’s provocative new play makes short work of those glittering statues and big hilltop signs - the former monuments of a pristine fantasy-land. In Bitter Wheat, Hollywood is a hellhole. The drama lays a notorious handful of high-rise gatekeepers bare, spurred on by a deep-rooted anger surrounding the wave of allegations about sexual misconduct, now singularly personified by that top-heavy toppled movie mogul, Harvey Weinstein. Some critics have declared it’s “too soon” and called for more depth to the leading roles and more consideration of the subject matter. Others have hailed the return of John Malkovich to the West End after 33 years away and the fast-paced interplay of Mamet’s dialogue and the small but powerful cast. You can find out where we weighed in on all this in our review, here...
This week, as Bitter Wheat begins its final showings, we were lucky enough to catch up with the exceptionally talented actress and rising star Ioanna Kimbook, who plays actress and rising star Yung Kim Li – her first role on the West End and a chance to spar with the brilliant John Malkovich, whose Weinstein-inspired, bloated lecher, Barney Fein, has sparked more than a little auditorium debate.
You can still pick up tickets for the final showings of Bitter Wheat at the Garrick Theatre as we near the end of its 4-month run.

London Theatre Review: Bitter Wheat at the Garrick Theatre
Bitter Wheat takes the once statuesque golden figure of a film-making mogul and smashes it into little pieces in this unsettling exposure of Hollywood's dark side. You could imagine Olivier Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer David Mamet (Oleanna, The Verdict) disappearing to write this script in a rolling fury, spurred on by the suggestion of a producer-friend to delve into the recent flood of sexual assault allegations, and the twisted shadow of those big hilltop letters.
