Following numerous sell-out runs at both the Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol and the Bristol Old Vic and at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and after taking home the Scotsman Fringe First Award, The Wardrobe Ensemble are taking their hit production 'Triple E' to London's Trafalgar Studios. Known for their trademark humour and inventive productions, The Wardrobe Ensemble are not afraid to take risks and it shows with their latest piece – the award-winning Education, Education Education play – which serves as a love letter to schools in the 1990s and dares to be provocative by exploring the justification behind what is being taught in schools.

Are educationally-themed West End shows the new black?
Trafalgar Studios has been rather enjoying education-themed shows, with Admissions starring Alex Kingston currently making a splash in the West End. Perhaps it comes at the right time as once progressive countries like America have succumbed to educational deterioration. Betsy Devos, Secretary of the Department of Education in America, made headlines recently for gutting funding for the Special Olympics as well as promoting larger class sizes, propounding that students in larger classes learn better without citing any research on her outrageous country. Meanwhile, in the UK, several veteran teachers at London's Furzedown primary school recently volunteered to take a £7,000 salary cut in order to save their colleagues from being fired. Considering how education shapes society and lack of quality education can be a huge threat to democracy, it is safe to say we can expect many new educationally-themed London theatre shows in the future.
What is the Wardrobe Ensemble's Education, Education, Education play about?
This educationally-themed play is set in May of 1997 when Tony Blair won the election for Prime Minister and when the Waves took home first place in Eurovision. J.K. Rowling was still writing Harry Potter before it became a huge phenomenon whilst Channel 5 has only been around on television for one month. The Spice Girls became a worldwide sensation that helped foster the Second British Invasion. No one can deny that Britain was officially the coolest place on earth at the time. But at your local secondary school, things are not as they might seem on the surface. Education, Education, Education explores a country in special measures, the subjects being taught in schools and why they're being taught, and who is responsible.
The Wardrobe Ensemble, a Made in Bristol company best known for 1972: The Future of Sex, bring their thought-provoking show Education, Education, Education to London's West End for the first time ever, and they're ready to challenge your beliefs and take a look into what has shaped our political history. Perhaps it will inspire you to be the change you want to see in the world!

Great production that took me back to working in school in 1997.
Incredible!! Great staging great themes great writing!
Fantastic show! A really enjoyable evening. Thought-provoking, fun and funny, this company is always such good value (I've seen them before). Wonderful!
Very funny show, fast moving
Funny, inventive staging/choreography and educational too!
We loved it. It was funny and the actors has really great personalities on stage.
Superbly well observed and performed. As a headteacher I recognised all the characters, teachers and students!
Great show, really captured the mood of the time. Cast very energetic ! Great soundtrack and likeable and realistic characters.
Excellent performance which, as retired teachers, we could relate to very well; acting, dancing and sparse stage props vividly brought the play together. Loved the leg room, although seats a little narrow.
Great show, highly recommend for those who remember 1997
Great play and use of humour to portray the education system. The characters were real and believable. A great night out
As American educators we found it painfully funny.

London Theatre Review: Education, Education, Education at Trafalgar Studios
I wasn’t sure what I expected when I went along to Education, Education, Education, as I have been a little disappointed in some of the newer pieces of musical theatre, but I needn’t have worried. What a refreshing, funny, well-scripted piece of work. The music was so evocative of the ’90s, and there was clearly a strong nostalgic feeling in the audience, with “oohs” and “ahhs”, and “remember that?” throughout.
Where did the “British Reserve” go? Well, people were singing and clapping, and joining in, with some even giving a standing ovation. And I loved that feel good factor.
