Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti's A Kind of People Royal Court tickets on sale now at affordable prices!

The all-new play by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti is set to premiere at the Royal Court's Jerwood Theatre Downstairs for a strictly limited season. The Watford-born British Sikh writer is a frequent collaborator for the Royal Court Theatre and her last work for the venue, Khandan (Family), opened in Birmingham Rep and London theatreland back in 2014 to widespread critical acclaim and sell-out performances. Her latest work, A Kind of People, is set to take the indie West End theatre scene by storm.

What is Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti's A Kind of People about?

It's a Friday night out in the sticks of the city and someone's holding a rager party. It may seem all fun and games, but somewhere someone's not having a good time. Nicky and Gary have been going steady since high school. Now Gary's up for a promotion so that he can finally lift his family out of their council housing and give Nicky everything he's ever wanted. Meanwhile, Mo and Anjum are accustomed to aiming high to achieve their goals and will stop at nothing to get what they want. Gary's sister Karen is unphased when it comes to fighting for what one believes in and would rather live her best life instead. And Mark...well, Mark is just there. Always. And let's not forget about the free-spirited Victoria, always wanting to dance with someone...

This was an absolutely excellent play, powerfully performed, which gripped the audience wholeheartedly through highs of joy and laughter to lows of shock and despair. I would definitely watch again.

This play was incredible. Amazing actors and a plot that just blows you away because it touches on subtle things in our society that we never speak about. Very emotional! Bravo to the witer, director, set designer and cast!!

Very well written play. Very dynamic. You don't feel like it lasted 90mn. The actor are really really really good. The range of emotion they are able to make you feel is quite impressive. I do recommend it. The character and their demons are very relatable and not far fetched at all!
