The Gift comes to London's Stratford East with cheap tickets available now!

Tickets for The Gift are available now. This shocking new comedy-drama is coming to the Theatre Royal Stratford East for a limited 2-week run in early 2020. Do not miss your chance to catch this new show in London this year!

This is an outrageous new comedy-drama about imperialism, cross-racial adoption, cultural appropriation and, of course,  drinking tea.

It is Brighton in 1852. Welcome to a day in the life of Sarah, an African girl who was adopted by Queen Victoria and raised in her elite circles. Today marks the eve of her having to return to Africa. But will she make the journey?

The Present. A day in the life of Sarah, a black middle-class woman living in a Cheshire village with her husband and their small child. Things begin to change when they are paid a visit by well-meaning neighbours who have something to confess…

The two Sarahs meet Queen Victoria for tea. But this isn’t going to be your regular tea party…

Great acting!!! The play was on the long side and I think I might have missed out on some meaning along the way, but enjoyed it non the less. The actors though left me spellbound- they were great!!!

I did not see it,I bought tickets for someone else, therefore I cannot score it, sorry.

Entertaining and thought provoking.

Suggest that the initial section be shortened as it is reviewed later on in the play. The second section was very witty, funny while being challenging. The end section was good but left a dilemma: a revisionist perspective on Nigeria history in which, following Fanon's theory, the oppressed is freed psychologically by killing the oppressor. However, that has not proved to work in actual history, slaves have killed masters and coup after coup in Africa has not led to psychological freedom. All in all, however a good to excellent piece.

Very thought provoking, uncomfortable in places, a brilliant piece of theatre

Absolutely fantastic!

An uncomfortable at times, humorous at other times, look at prejudice. A very good cast and well worth a visit.

Excellent venue restaurant changes are really well done.

The acting was excellent. The issues raised by the play were thought provoking. The stage sets were beautifully crafted. One of the best plays I have seen.
