Book The Permanent Way tickets now to ensure you can come along for the ride.

The Permanent Way a verbatim dramatisation

More than a decade after its premiere in York and subsequent West End transfer to the National Theatre, David Hare’s award-winning play is surging into a provocative new site-specific staging in London’s underground venue below Waterloo Station, The Vaults. This documentary drama is a telling of the chaos that came from the bungled privatisation of Britain’s railways.  Told through the verbatim first-hand accounts of people involved at every level, from passengers to Civil Servants, this piece asks difficult questions about responsibility, mismanagement and corruption. In turns revealing, moving and witty The Permanent Way asks if we’ve learned anything from our recent history.

The Permanent Way Cast and Creatives

David Hare’s works have been nominated for Olivier Awards an astonishing eight times. His plays Racing Demon and Skylight both came away with the Best New Play awards. In addition to his award-winning stage plays, Hare is also an accomplished screenwriter having written the screenplays for The Hours and The Reader among many others.

The Vaults run of The Permanent Way will be directed by Alexander Lass with sets and costumes by Ruth Hall. Music and Sound will be from Roly Witherow. The cast for the London run of The Permanent Way will be announced in due course.

Do not miss your chance to get tickets for The Permanent Way, The Vaults is the perfect venue for this drama about the fateful decision to privatize the railways. Coming to London for an extremely limited 2-month run, make sure you have The Permanent Way tickets before they pull out of the station.
