What is Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis about?
The story of this brilliant comedy is all about stay-at-home dominatrix Josie, and she has lost her passion for life. Being middle-aged, caring for a daydreaming daughter, and coping through Boston’s winter, the last thing she is looking forward to is her birthday. Her favourite and most loyal client Lionel, however, is adamant to cheer her up, and with the help of Josie’s daughter, Brenda, and their devout Catholic cleaner, Martha, they are going to throw her a birthday party! They even have a surprise guest up their sleeve – a brand new Elvis impersonator, Timothy Wong. However, no one knows about the other surprise guest that is really going to see that the party gets all shook up!
This comedy is all about learning to accept yourself and finding a place to fit in; no matter how old you are, what you’re wearing or whether or not you know Elvis’ songs. This heartfelt play will thaw the coldest of winters and warm the hearts of the biggest Scrooge, all whilst drawing the deepest laughs from the pits of your stomachs.

Slow start but interwoven plots developed to make the play into a very interesting thought provoking piece
Excellent production and thoroughly enjoyable.
Show was great, actors were great - whole experience was fantastic.
Poorly written and acted without conviction.
This play was funny but also tackled more serious issues as well. All the characters had a shared amount of the story to tell. Well acted and well written.Worth braving the rain for
