Awful Auntie tickets available now at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London
Richard James stars as the awful Aunt Alberta in the stage adaption of David Walliams’ award-winning book Awful Auntie
Riding off the success of Gangsta Granny, which ran at the Harold Pinter Theatre earlier this year, David Walliams is back with his award-winning children’s book, Awful Auntie, which is set to run this holiday season at the newly refurbished Bloomsbury Theatre.
Little Britain comedian and Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams is one of the best-selling authors of children’s books in the UK and his seventh book, Awful Auntie, was the top-selling children’s book of 2014. Awful Auntie also won Audiobook of the Year at the 2014 UK National Book Awards.
Awful Auntie is a period piece set in 1933 and follows Stella Saxby, the sole heiress to Saxby Hall. One fateful day, Stella is on her way to London with her parents, Lord and Lady Saxby, when the unthinkable happens. She wakes up three months later to find that only her Aunt Alberta knows what happened. However, Stella soon catches on to her lies and finds herself at odds with Aunt Alberta and her Great Bavarian Mountain Owl named Wagner. Can Stella foil Aunt Alberta’s awful plans or will she lose everything she owns?
The Awful Auntie Bloomsbury Theatre cast is set to star Richard James (Gangsta Granny, The Mystery of Sherlock Holmes) as Aunt Alberta, Georgina Leonidas (Katie Bell in the Harry Potter films) as Stella, Roberta Bellekom as Aunt Alberta’s sidekick owl Wagner, Ashley Cousins as Soot, an orphan who gained his name from working as a chimney sweep, and Harry Sutherland as Gibbon, the ancient butler of Saxby Hall.
David Walliam’s smash-hit children’s book was adapted for the stage by Neal Foster (Gangsta Granny, Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain), who also directs. Awful Auntie also features design by Jackie Trousdale, lighting by Jason Taylor, music by Jak Poore, and sound by Nick Sugar.
Don’t miss what the critics are calling “Exciting, thrilling, heart-warming, and memorable” (What’s On Live) and “a triumphant adaptation” (What’s Good To Do) of David Walliam’s beloved children’s book!
Awful Auntie London tickets are expected to sell out quickly. Avoid disappointment and book your Awful Auntie tickets ahead while stocks last!
