Noises Off transfers to Theatre Royal Haymarket
Careening along at breakneck speeds, Noises Off shows the on and offstage antics of a touring theatre company. We watch as they stumble their way through mounting their fictional farce, Nothing On, from the chaotic final rehearsals before their opening night in Weston-Super-Mare, to a completely calamitous matinee in Ashton-Under-Lyme (which we see entirely, and uproariously silently, from backstage). We even get to share their final, brilliantly catastrophic performance in Stockton-on-Tees.
This classic British comedy takes us behind the scenes and backstage with a company of actors as they struggle to prepare for and then finish a run of their newest show. We get to watch from different angles and iterations as our actors’ relationships turn sour behind the scenes and just how much that seeps out into the show taking place on the stage. Noises Off is known for its technical complexity and split-second timing. An immediate hit when it premiered, Noises Off quickly transferred to the West End’s Savoy Theatre where it would go on to run for five years.
The show had multiple Tony award-nominated runs on Broadway and numerous London revivals including productions at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End, The National Theatre, and London’s Old Vic. With its unique peek behind the curtain at life in the world of theatre, the show became a favourite of professional and amateur companies around the world. It would go on to be made into a 1992 film with a star-studded cast including Carol Burnett, Michael Caine, Christopher Reeve, John Ritter, and Nicollette Sheridan.

The transfer of Noises Off is set to star Felicity Kendal (The Good Life, Anything Goes), Jonathan Coy (Rumpole of the Bailey, Hornblower) and Alexander Hanson (The Sound of Music, We Will Rock You), who are making a triumphant return to the epic production after starring in The Pheonix Theatre transfer earlier this year.

Interview with Matthew Kelly about Noises Off
The hugely anticipated transfer of Michael Frayn’s Noises Off is now playing at the Phoenix Theatre. The hilariously madcap play within a play, which boasts an all-star cast has transferred to the West End for a strictly limited eight-week run following an acclaimed UK tour.
Michael Frayn created Noises Off as an homage to the thrilling unpredictability of live theatre. The farce follows a hapless company trying to put on a titillating comedy entitled “Nothing On”. Bedlam ensues with costume catastrophes, disastrous set pieces and calamitous cast mishaps, which all result in a break-neck speed stage show that is sure to get your pulse racing.

Q&A with Sarah Hadland from Noises Off at London's Garrick Theatre
Considered to be one of the undisputed funniest plays of all time, Michael Frayn's Noises Off is enjoying an acclaimed West End run at the Garrick Theatre where audiences have been laughing themselves silly night after night. The hit production stars the highly-prolific Sarah Hadland in the role of the two-faced gossip Belinda Blair.
The London-born actress is perhaps best known for her role as Stevie Sutton on BBC One's BAFTA Award-nominated comedy, Miranda, which aired from 2009 to 2015. Hadland's most notable stage credits include What's In A Name?, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, Time and the Conways, Grease, and Cats. She is also no stranger to film, having starred in the 2008 James Bond / 007 film, Quantum of Solace (2008), in which she played the Ocean Sky receptionist opposite Daniel Craig, and in the films Learners (2007), Magicians (2007), and Leap Year (2010).
We were fortunate enough to get a hold of Sarah Hadland, who took time out of her busy performance schedule to answer our questions about this classic British comedy. Find out what she had to say about the iconic Noises Off play below!
