The Seven Pomegranate Seeds to have world premiere at Rose Theatre

Rose Theatre presents a Rose Original production which is set to have its world premiere this November for a limited run. The Seven Pomegranate Seeds tickets are now booking for this exciting new work. Join the first-ever audiences to see this new play by Colin Teevan from 4 November to 20 November 2021.

What is The Seven Pomegranate Seeds play about?

Seven contemporary stories grounded in prominent, mythical origins. Persephone, Hypsipyle, Medea, Alcestis, Phaedra, Creusa and Demeter: the women of Euripides' plays are reimagined as people of today in an unexpected fusion of celebrity, inappropriate desires, historical police investigations and missing children. A severed maternal bond threads each story together, charting a journey through rage and redemption, towards a compelling conclusion.

The Seven Pomegranate Seeds cast and creative team

The play is written by Colin Teevan and is directed by Melly Still. Still previously directed the critically acclaimed Rose Original production My Brilliant Friend which transferred to the National Theatre in 2019 and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin which transferred to the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre in 2019. Melly Still also provides the production with design. There is also lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, and music and sound by Jon Nicholls. Layla Madanat is the assistant director and Amanda Ramasawmy is the associate designer.

The cast includes Niamh Cusack who previously worked with still in My Brilliant Friend. Further casting is yet to be announced.
