Stepping Out coming to the Vaudeville in spring 2017!

Amanda Holden will head a fantastic cast in this funny and heart-warming comedy! The story follows the lives of seven women and one man attempting to tap their troubles away at a weekly dancing class. Initially all thumbs and left feet, the group is just getting to grip with the basics when they are asked to take part in a charity gala…

★★★★ Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, Sunday Express, The Sun

'Amanda Holden serves up COMEDY GOLD in this FOOT-TAPPING TREAT. Tracy Ann Oberman, Lesley Vicarage, Judith Barker...terrific, Anna Jane Casey supreme'  - Daily Telegraph
'Maria Friedman's GLORIOUS PRODUCTION. Britain's Got Talent and then some. Fabulous'  - Daily Express
'Golden Holden commands the stage. Amanda Holden...EVERY INCH THE LEADING LADY. A production crammed full of hilarious eighties gags and fabulously over the top outfits'  - The Sun
'Amanda Holden ...wonderful, Dominic Cowan...great comic timing, Judith Barker...brilliant. Raises the roof'  - The Times

After several months we meet the group again, and all of them have a story to tell. There’s haughty Vera, mouthy Maxine and uptight Andy; bubbly Sylvia and shy Dorothy; eager Lynne and cheerful Rose and, of course, Geoffrey. At the piano is the dour Mrs Fraser and spurring them all on, the ever-patient Mavis.

Directed by triple Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman, the stellar cast also includes Tracy-Ann Oberman, Anna-Jane Casey, Nicola StephensonNatalie Casey, Dominic Rowan, Judith Barker, Sandra Marvin and Jessica-Alice McCluskey with Janet Behan, Suzy Bloom, Emma Hook, Marcia Mantake, Katie Verner & Nick Warnford. Stepping Out was the winner of the Evening Standard Comedy of the Year Award, 1984. It was also made into a musical, which became a film in 1991, starring Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters.

Book your tickets well in time for this theatrical feast!

REVIEW: Stepping Out at the Vaudeville Theatre *****

It’s rare that I don’t agree with a general critical consensus when they don’t take a fancy to a show, but Stepping Out seems to be an exception. Remarkably, I knew nothing about the play before going in other than it focuses on a group of women in a weekly tap class, but what I met was a pleasant surprise. Not only does this play feel fresh and light-hearted, but it’s complex and hilarious in equal measure, making it a West End staple.

REVIEW: Stepping Out ". . . audiences will not be disappointed"

Tits and teeth is the name of the game at the Vaudeville Theatre. Put on your best smile and face front. That is the lesson given to Mavis’s hapless tap class and it becomes clear that the characters adopt this in their lives, using the class as a means of escape.
