The Prince of Egypt has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and a book by Philip LaZebnik (Disney’s Mulan and Pocahontas). The incredible award-winning team of creatives behind The Prince of Egypt are set to bring a musical theatre experience like no other to the West End stage.
The Prince of Egypt is one of the greatest stories ever told. A mother’s love leads one woman to send her child into the unknown, and another woman to hide the truth about where he came from. The saga of Moses and his brother Ramses who would become Pharaoh. The tale of a brother exiled, finally returning to his home and fighting to free his people from the bonds of slavery and lead them to the Promised Land. This is a story that will change everything, forever.
The Prince of Egypt Musical vs Film
The Prince of Egypt was a feature-length animated musical film released by DreamWorks Animation in 1998. The film, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary was a box office success, becoming the highest-grossing non-Disney animated film of the time. The film features songs from Stephen Schwartz, a score from Hans Zimmer and the film's celebrated screenplay was written by Phillip LaZebnik. The Prince of Egypt featured a star-studded array of vocal talent including Val Kilmer (who voiced Moses and God), Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Steve Martin, and Martin Short.
The musical tells the same story of Moses and his brother Ramses that is followed in the film. There are several songs in the musical that fans will remember from the film, including the runaway hit 'When You Believe', the show also features songs that were newly composed for the stage version of the musical. The Prince of Egypt songs
By far and away the most popular song from The Prince of Egypt soundtrack was 'When You Believe'. The pop duet between divas Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey went on to be a global hit and even won an Academy Award®-winning for Best Original Song in 1999. The original film version of The Prince of Egypt was widely applauded for its soundtrack. Music and lyrics were written by the legendary Stephen Schwartz writer of hit musicals Pippin, Wicked, and Godspell. The soundtrack included favourites such as 'Deliver Us', 'All I Ever Wanted' and 'Through Heaven’s Eyes', which all feature in the stage musical alongside ' plus 10 songs that have been composed especially for the stage version of the musical.

Review: The Prince of Egypt (Dominion Theatre)
The latest production currently showing at the Dominion Theatre is a live adaptation of the beloved DreamWorks animated film The Prince of Egypt. Fans will be happy to know that the hit song 'When You Believe' famously sung by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston is also included in this musical, after becoming popular back in 1999. This beautiful song ensured the classic animated film became a success and secured itself a cult following.

The West End prodcution of The Prince of Egypt will conclude its run in Janury 2022, it has been announced today. The show, which has been seen by an incredible 180,000 people, has added extra performances in December and will play its last performance at the Dominion Theatre on Saturday 8th January 2022.

The West End’s hit musical The Prince of Egypt will have just three performances to socially distanced audiences, on 21 July and both shows on 22 July, before reverting to full capacity audiences from 23 July. The Prince of Egypt tickets are available for full capacity audience performances now.

First Look: New images released in celebration of The Prince of Egypt’s West End return tonight!
Ahead of The Prince of Egypt returning to the West End’s Dominion Theatre from tonight, the new hit musical has released new production images. The musical will return to the London stage in all its glory, presented in its original form, but in accordance with UK Government protocols (aka socially distanced audiences and COVID secure measures throughout the theatre). Performances are expected to operate with socially distanced audiences up until Saturday 4 September 2021. Tickets for The Prince of Egypt in the West End are bow booking until 8 January 2022.

The Prince of Egypt performances will begin in just over two weeks time in accordance with the UK Government Step 3 protocols; i.e. socially distanced audiences. The Prince of Egypt to reopen at London’s Dominion Theatre in July!
New musical The Prince of Egypt had its London premiere in early 2020 just before lockdown saw the curtain come down. Since theatres went dark the show released the Original West End Cast Recording which sure did help with the wait, but thankfully the show has made plans to return. The Prince of Egypt is set to reopen at the West End’s Dominion Theatre from 1 July to 4 September with social distancing in place. The musical plans to open at full capacity from 6 September 2021.
